BMW’s past is vertical kidneys, they’ve done this before.

They know how to make a clamshell hood, everyone has seem to forgot the Z’s have them.

The wing/fender is clearly inspired

and the color is clearly a thing.

I don’t know how people were complaining about any of these things. If BMW made it more boring the internet would have cried #AccordCoupe, there is no pleasing you people.

The original kidney grills were always relatively the same size as the headlights. It’s less about them being longer, and more about them being narrower.

The only exception I can think of is the 2000CS, but that’s the E9’s ugly sibling.

No need for the front wing stabilizers aside from the “look a throwaway reference! derp!”

why is the rear wing so narrow? at least be as wide as the supports.

I’ll also note that you didn’t include a picture of the front as there is no defense for that.

It is a “Hommage” - an allusion or imitation by one artist to another …. the whole thing is a reference.

The wing support angle mimics the greenhouse’s, looks better that way imo.

My defense for the front was the 328 hommage’s grill which is even more elongated.

Most of the references are well integrated. others were obviously thrown on at the last second. poor design.

The original 3.0 CSL was nicknamed the Batmobile. This would be nicknamed Bad Piggy.

I don’t need to be on the design team to see that may of the homage pieces were entirely forced. another example is the extra holes in the splitter/grill. they made sense on the E9, none whatsoever on this.
